The Trails Committee performs a number of functions, including informing the Board and Membership of trail issues relevant to the Waterbury Neighborhood, attending city council and other local government meetings to support trail infrastructure in and around the Waterbury Neighborhood and coordinating with City of Des Moines personnel on trail issues.
Current trail issues include:
- Installation of Emergency 911 and distance signage posts along the Walnut Creek Trail;
- Working with City personnel on a plan to enhance the nearly completed Phase I of the Waveland Trail running from 56th Street south of I-235 to connect to the Walnut Creek Trail.
- Evaluation of the proposal to re-stripe Ingersoll Avenue and add bike lanes which would provide bike lane linkage to the Waterbury Neighborhood.

DES MOINES BIKE SUMMIT MEETING JULY 14,2009
Alta Planning & Design
The City Council appropriated $100,000 for Alta to help the City meet our green,health,education,economic, safe routes to school, bike facilities, etc. goals for the City. This is to also include a designation for a "great biking community."
Everyone is encouraged to give your input by taking a short survey at www.DMBikePlan.com. Please do so as this is very import if our neighborhood is going to benefit from the plan and the additional stimulus dollars that are expected to be distributed this fall.
