WNA
will celebrate this special day by continuing to focus on reforesting our neighborhood.
Plan to bring the kids, a shovel, and any general questions you may have regarding
trees in your own back yard!
We are continuing to work with the City of Des Moines on identifying a location, securing free tree samplings and other educational items for hand outs to the children (both young and old!)
In cooperation with other designated NeighborWoods associations we will introduce the "I Take the Pledge" program. If you can help with this project, please contact CJ Stephens at fostersdc@aol.com or 277-3907, or Anne Koch Gaer 274-6750. The Arbor Day Celebration will feature:
- Proclamation by: Mayor Frank Cownie & Councilwoman Christine Hensley
- Songs & Poems by Neighborhood Children
- Tree Planting Demonstration by Skip Moore - City Arborist with assistance of WNA Neighbors
- Handout and Treats for Everyone
Please join in this WNA Green Celebration
This program is provided with the assistance of the National Arbor Day Association, Trees Forever, City of Des Moines Public Works & the Waterbury Neighborhood Association.
